Waterdogs: Michael Sowers (A)

Waterdogs head coach Andy Copelan said attackman Michael Sowers could have an MVP season this year for the dogs. He didn’t show that in week one with just one goal on eight shots.

Sowers won’t have to face Jack Rowlett this week, though. The Redwoods have a strong crop of poles, but Sowers will be expected to deliver a big time performance for the reigning champs.

Redwoods: Ryan Kennedy (LSM)

Second-overall pick Owen Grant is coming, and that means the clock is ticking for Redwoods other long poles to cement their place on the gameday roster. Second-year undrafted free agent Ryan Kennedy earned rave reviews for his training camp performance.

He had a decent season opener against Atlas, and the Division III product will look to build upon that in Charlotte.
