Paul Rabil announces a seventh PLL team will be added for 2020

On the morning of October 23, listeners of the popular Barstool podcast Pardon My Take were treated to the breaking news that the PLL will be adding an expansion franchise to the league for the 2020 season.

On the show, PLL co-founder Paul Rabil announced that a seventh team would join the league in 2020 and that the Pardon My Take crew and himself will be “shopping the name” of the expansion club on the October 25th episode of Pardon My Take.

Rabil revealed that the decision to add a seventh team allows for natural team byes to be built into the schedule next season. He also revealed that the current six teams will have the ability to protect 10 players on their roster from the expansion draft that will take place in February of 2020.

In addition to the expansion draft for players not protected by their teams or already in the player pool, the league will hold a new entry players draft for players signing with the league for the first time. The college player entry draft will once again be held at NBC studios in April.

Fans have been clamoring for expansion since Paul Rabil first hinted at the possibility of adding teams following the PLL Championship. With the news that the league is adding another team, fans have yet another reason to be excited for the second season of the PLL.
