In the 16th Century, Ponce De Leon traveled to Florida in search of the Fountain of Youth. Legend has it the Spanish explorer was told by the Native Americans that he could find the fountain in Bimini, the westernmost district of the Bahamas about 50 miles due east of Miami. While he never seemed to locate the mythical fountain in Florida, it seems he might have been looking in the wrong state. Maybe he should’ve looked high in the Rocky Mountains around Denver.
Fast forward to today and it seems that John Grant Jr. has possibly done what Leon couldn’t do. Locate the Fountain of Youth. When the MLL’s all-time leading scorer laces up his cleats presumably for the final time in the 2020 MLL Championship in Annapolis, he’ll be playing in his 172nd MLL game, including playoffs. Since the Canadian made his professional debut in 2000, he’s won championships, been named league MVP, and set MLL and NLL records just to name a few things.
Now 45-years old the attackman is suiting up in pursuit of his sixth MLL championship, something he came one win away from last season.
