Chrome LC: Add a Two-Point Threat and Get Over Playoff Hump

The Chrome finished the season with only three two-point goals, which was second lowest in the league. Only the Cannons had less with just two. While the Chrome’s offense was pretty good in 2022, finishing fourth in the league in scores with 120, their inability to spread out the Chaos defense in the quarterfinals is partially what led to their downfall. The Chaos defense was able to stay compact and dare the Chrome to take outside shots, which Blaze Riorden easily saved.
Luckily for the Chrome, they have very few needs at other positions and there are a handful of deep threats hitting free agency this spring. If I was the Chrome, I’d try to add a player like Myles Jones in free agency or trade for Sergio Perkovic to help bolster the midfield and add a legitimate two-point threat. With the emergence of Charlie Bertrand, I can see the Redwoods willing to part with one of the two. If not Jones or Perkovic, Mac O’Keefe, Mike Chanenchuk, Chris Aslanian, Jake Carraway and Tanner Cook are some other sharp-shooters set to hit the market in March.
The Chrome have yet to win an elimination game in their four-year history. Adding a key free agent or two at the midfield could be the difference maker when it comes to advancing in the playoffs in 2023.
