Atlas vs Redwoods
The final game of the PLL’s inaugural weekend didn’t require overtime like the first two games, but it was still just as exciting. The back and forth contest found the Redwoods coming out on top, thanks to the play of some new faces at the pro ranks.
Many expected this one to come down to the play of known commodities. The battle at the face-off X matched up two of the world’s best in the Redwoods’ Greg Gurenlian and the Atlas’ Trevor Baptiste. Sunday’s game also saw former Johns Hopkins’ teammates Kyle Harrison (Redwoods) & PLL founder, Paul Rabil (Atlas) square off.
Despite these expectations, the most competitive battle could be found between the pipes. Rookie Tim Troutner had quite the coming out party, tallying 17 saves for the Redwoods. Jack Concannon also stood
tall in cage for the Atlas, despite recording the loss. Rookie Clarke Petterson had himself a day, tallying 3 points in his pro debut, including the Redwoods’ first goal.
In total, the Redwoods had six players record multiple points in the victory. Veteran Eric Law led the Atlas offense with the help of fellow attackman, Kieran McArdle. The duo combined for 6 points.
The Redwoods will try to make it two in a row next week when they take on the Archers, while the Atlas will look to get into the win column when they face off against the Chaos.
