Recapping the top MLL draft picks from the past 20 years

Kevin Cassese was selected second overall in the 2003 draft and had an illustrious career with the Rochester Rattlers and Philadelphia Barrage.

2002

Josh Coffman – Rochester Rattlers

Josh Coffman went first overall to the Rochester Rattlers in 2002 following a highly successful four-year campaign at Syracuse University. Coffman was a three-time All-American at Syracuse and ranks in the top 15 all time in university history in goals and points. Coffman would only play one full season for the Rattlers, scoring 31 points in 11 games. He would only play eight games the rest of his career.

Steve Dusseau – Boston Cannons

Steve Dusseau went second overall after scoring 170 points over four years at Georgetown. Dusseau went on to play four season for Boston, scoring 62 points in three seasons. He would finish his career with a season on the Chicago Machine, where he would add ten points to his career total. Dusseau was named an all-star in 2003.

2003

Chris Rotelli – Bridgeport Barrage

Chris Rotelli had a highly successful college career that included leading Virginia to a national championship in 2003. Rotelli was drafted first overall by the Bridgeport Barrage where he played ones season before being traded to the Boston Cannons. Rotelli would play seven MLL seasons before retiring after the 2010 season. He now coaches youth lacrosse and is the director of ADVNC Lacrosse.

Kevin Cassese – Rochester Rattlers

Kevin Cassese was selected second overall by Rochester after playing his college career at Duke. Cassese would make an All-Star team and win a championship while on the professional level. Cassese now serves as the head coach at Lehigh university where he has served since 2008.


David Wildman is a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago and their Sports Communication Program. David played four years of lacrosse at Illinois State and was the president of the club team while there. David is entering his second year coaching at Deerfield High School and has also coached youth with the Deerfield Youth Lacrosse Club and Bloomington Warriors Lacrosse Club. He has previously served as Editor-in-Chief at the Loop Sports, Senior Columnist at On Tap Sports Net where he wrote about the Bulls, White Sox and Bears, and a contributor at FutureSox.
