PLL Week 5: Players to Watch

Atlas LC vs. Chaos LC

Atlas: Jack Concannon & Drake Porter (G)

The Bulls need somebody to play better between the pipes. Atlas have allowed the most scores in the PLL — 1.7 more than second-worst Cannons — and Concannon’s poor start is a big reason why. The former All-Star game MVP has the worst save percentage in the league amongst starters.

Head coach Mike Pressler subbed in Drake Porter during the second half in Minnesota, and the former Syracuse All-American didn’t fare much better against the Cannons in a 19-12 drubbing. Whether it’s Concannon or Porter in goal, Atlas needs a much better performance against Chaos’s elite finishers.

Chaos: Chase Fraser (A/M)

This is less a spotlight on Fraser and more on the Chaos midfield as a whole. Against Archers before the World Games hiatus, the Chaos offense hummed to the tune of 15 goals in a dominant victory. Things stalled out a bit against Redwoods, though, and the midfield unit struggled to generate consistently.

Ryan Smith did his thing with a pair of goals, but Chase Fraser and Chris Cloutier — who spent most of last season on attack — struggled to produce out of the box. Chaos need more from the supporting cast after just eight goals a week ago.
