The Premier Lacrosse League secured another pivotal win for sports bettors planning on gambling on pro lacrosse this summer. On Thursday, an article on CNBC announced that the PLL signed a sponsorship deal with DraftKings, that will make the sports book the “Official Sports Betting Partner” of the 2020 PLL Championship Series.
DraftKings did not provide financial terms of the deal, but it was revealed that the deal included the option to extend the agreement after the PLL Championship Series concludes and would allow DraftKings to leverage the PLL’s media rights deal.
DraftKings’ chief business officer Ezra Kucharz said the agreement allows “different elements” of DraftKings to be “integrated into the broadcast” of the PLL games appearing on NBC’s family of networks. This detail is particularly important because it allows DraftKings to drive engagement with PLL sports bettors, while the league maintains its betting integrity.
“We look for new and exciting things that have different growth trajectories,” Kucharz told CNBC. “Lacrosse is one of these sports that has really started to take hold on both coasts, and you’re seeing it grow as a sport everywhere.”
DraftKings’ sponsorship deal with the PLL makes the company the second sports book to offer betting on the PLL after William Hill announced its PLL championship future odds in June. The news comes after the PLL’s initial announcement that it had partnered with betting integrity partner Genius Sports to offer sports betting on its PLL Championship Series.
