PLL Recap: Josh Byrne leads Chaos upset over Archers and scores potential goal of the year

Chaos LC entered their matchup against Archers LC as underdogs once again. They picked up right where they left off as Sergio Salcido got the game started with an easy time and room rip thanks to an early slide from Archers. After an answer from Christian Mazzone, Pat Resch and Eric Scott would extend the Chaos lead to end the first quarter.

Josh Byrne is a cheat code

Late slides and highlight reel goals were the story of the second quarter. Chaos allowed Tom Schreiber to dodge straight to the crease and score untouched, yet would answer with Miles Thompson’s icy pump fake and bottom corner rip.

Chaos would once again leave a member of the Big 4 open with Will Manny stinging a time and room shot. Yet, Josh Byrne would answer for Chaos with an on-the-run, between-the-legs, one-handed goal that left Lax Twitter speechless.

In the words of diggstape, Byrne scored on Drew Adams ADAP—as dirty, as possible. Andy Towers summed up the highlight reel goal the best with an electric video game analogy at halftime.

Chaos continues dominance and Blaze Riorden denies Archers comeback

They Chaos would go into halftime with a 8-3 lead and despite some late rally attempts by Archers, would continue their dominance on offense. Curtis Dickson scored a hat trick for his fourth 3+ point game in the PLL Championship Series.

Blaze Riorden put on another goalie clinic, recording 18 saves and a 67% save percentage in the win. Through six games, he has 105 saves and a 63% save percentage.

PLL Betting Breakdown

The Cinderella story continues as Chaos wins their second straight playoff game and is now one win away from satisfying bettors who wagered on their once +2100 odds to win the PLL Championship Series. As for bettors who wagered on the total, things got a little more complicated. If you got in early when the O/U was 21.5, you were elated when Dhane Smith scored an empty-net goal to ice the game. If you placed your bet when it jumped up to 22, you were left with a frustrating push. Yet, hopefully you weren’t one of the unlucky bunch who got in at the 22.5 total.

Next Up

It’s the top-seeded juggernaut Whipsnakes against the #7 seed underdog Chaos. The two teams will meet for the second time this series in a Sunday afternoon matchup. Can Chaos spoil the Whipsnakes’ bid to repeat as PLL champions? You’ll have to tune in at 12:30pm ET on NBC to find out.
