The Philadelphia Barrage announce that they have acquired Kevin Crowley and the New York Lizards’ fourth round pick in the 2020 MLL Draft. In return, the New York Lizards acquired the third overall pick in the 2020 MLL Draft.
The trade gives head coach Spencer Ford and the Philadelphia Barrage picks 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 19 and 21 in the 2020 MLL College Draft. In return, head coach BJ O’Hara and the New York Lizards own three of the first seven picks in the draft.
Pro Lacrosse Talk contributor Dan Arestia first reported a trade was in the works back in early March and the trade was made official several hours before tonight’s MLL College Draft.
The addition of Kevin Crowley upgrades a Barrage team that traded offensive weapons Randy Staats and Bryan Cole to the Boston Cannons in the offseason. The move also allows Crowley, who currently resides in the Philadelphia area and plays for the Philadelphia Wings in the NLL, a chance to play for his local team.
Kevin Crowley was the first player to ever be selected first overall in both the MLL and NLL collegiate drafts, in 2011. In his decade-long career, Kevin Crowley has been named the league MVP and the MLL All-Star Game MVP, in addition to several other appearances in the MLL All-Star Games.
What do you think of the Kevin Crowley trade and how do you think the Philadelphia Barrage and New York Lizards will use their newly acquired picks?
