Waterdogs LC: Can Waterdogs survive without Jake Withers?
Waterdogs are as complete a team as anybody in the PLL. The reigning champs are strong on both sides of the ball, they feature a premier shot-stopper between the pipes and their faceoff unit is one of the league’s best.
At least it was supposed to be.
Star faceoff man Jake Withers will start the first few weeks of the season on the holdout list and that could be a massive loss for the Dogs. Second-year North Carolina product Zac Tucci had some good moments last year, but the Waterdogs were the second worst faceoff team in the regular season due to Withers being injured for half the season.
Withers won over half of his duels at the stripe in the postseason, and that helped head coach Andy Copelan’s team win a championship. If the Waterdogs lose three or four games before Withers returns, it could make things much tougher for the 2022 PLL champs to repeat this season.
