Cannons LC: Can Cannons compete without Lyle Thompson?
This was always going to be a difficult season for new head coach Brian Holman and his Cannons team. The task got a whole lot harder when superstar and offensive supernova Lyle Thompson decided not to play this summer. The Cannons were the weakest roster in the league heading into the season, and now they don’t even have their talisman.
It’ll be interesting to see if Holman can help elevate this crop of players, and whether this summer’s spending spree will pay off and lead to immediate success. Marcus Holman, Matt Kavanagh, Finn Sullivan, Kyle Hartzell and Adam Ghitelman are all proven players in the PLL and will look to raise Cannons floor.
This team’s ceiling doesn’t seem high from the outside. But there’s a world where young stars like Asher Nolting take the leap and the veterans right the ship en route to the playoffs. And if the worst case scenario is a top three pick next year, that’s not the worst thing in the world.
