The 2023 Premier Lacrosse League season is just days away. The league is entering its fifth season of play, and the eight teams are putting in their final preparations ahead of the regular season.
This was the most chaotic offseason since the PLL absorbed the MLL ahead of the 2021 season. Two clubs made coaching changes, and free agency led to more player movement than ever.
With just days till the opening faceoff, here’s the biggest questions for each team ahead of this season.
Archers LC: Will the offense still thrive without Marcus Holman and Will Manny?
It’s a new era for Archers Lacrosse Club. Offensive cornerstones Will Manny and Marcus Holman both left the team in free agency — as well as long-time goalie Adam Ghitelman. Tom Schreiber is still running the show from midfield, but the rest of the offense is officially being turned over.
Head coach Chris Bates signed Mac O’Keefe — the college running mate of star attackman Grant Ament — to fill the lefty attack role. Second year attackers Matt Moore and Connor DeSimone will also be asked to step up on offense.
The Archers have been an elite offense through the first four PLL seasons. They need to perfect this transition to stay at the top of the league and finally push through in the playoffs.
