Archers vs Redwoods
The Archers and Redwoods met for the first time at Red Bull Arena with both looking to remain undefeated. The Redwoods got off to a quick 2-0 start, but thanks to some great two-man play from behind the cage and off ball movement, the Archers put together a three-goal run to end the first quarter.

After giving up a goal early in the 2nd, the Redwoods would fight back thanks and go on a four-goal run to secure a 6-4 lead at halftime. Following a back and forth third quarter that ended with the Redwoods maintaining an 8-7 lead. After trading goals to start the fourth quarter, the “Arrows” showed they had another late-game comeback in them. Thanks to two goals in the final four minutes from Ben McIntosh, including the game-winner with 1:37 left in the game, the Archers were able to top the Redwoods 10-9.
The Archers boast arguably the best chemistry of any offense with attackmen Marcus Holman (1G, 2A), Will Manny (2G) and Kevin Rice (1A), along with midfielder Tom Schreiber (2G, 1A), showing they can score in a variety of ways. They’ve proven they can dodge from the wings as well as create offense from X and find the open looks on the crease.

Pair that with solid defensive play from the likes of LSM Scott Ratliff, who leads the league in caused turnovers, and goaltender Adam Ghitelman (14SV, 60.8SV%), and you have one of the most complete teams in the league.
Despite falling short this week, the Redwoods once again showed a lot of promise. The Redwoods also got solid production from midfielders Sergio Salcido (1G, 1A), Joe Walters (2G) and Sergio Perkovic (2G) who showed they could dominate their 1v1 matchups. Additionally, LSM John Sexton was all over the field throwing yard sale checks and breaking sticks in half.

However, the “Woods” will definitely need to get better two-man play from their attackmen Matt Kavanagh, Joey Sankey, Clarke Peterson and Ryder Garnsey and rely less on transition if they want to win close games like this.
The Redwoods (1-1) will face the Chaos (1-1) next Saturday, June 15 at 2 PM ET in Chicago. The Archers (2-0) will follow and take on the only other undefeated team in the Whipsnakes (2-0) at 5 PM ET.
