Connor Fields signs with Cannons LC
While the presence of Matt Kavanagh makes this move a little less likely, I think Connor Fields would be a great pickup for the Cannons and new head coach Brian Holman. Lyle Thompson is the best player on the planet and in the prime of his career. Every move Coach Holman makes should go through him first. I think Thompson would love the idea of playing with Fields again (they played at Albany together for a season) and I think he’ll push for the Cannons to go after him.
Fields has been dominant in the NLL this year, scoring 59 points in nine games for the Rochester Knighthawks so far. Fields only had 16 points last season for the Archers, but that was more due to the plethora of talent the Archers have on the offensive side of the ball. If he was picked up by the Cannons, he would get more touches and could be a focal point of that offense alongside Thompson, Kavanagh and Asher Nolting.
The Cannons could play Fields at attack or run him out of the box like the Archers did because of his versatility and his presence would help an offense that relied too heavily on Thompson at times last year. If Fields signs with the Cannons, it would be a huge upgrade for their offense and would also give Fields more opportunities, so this move makes sense for both sides.
