The success of the Buffalo Bandits (NLL) unfortunately might lead to yet another slow start for the Chaos. Chaos LC will be without attackmen Josh Byrne, Chris Cloutier, and Chase Fraser, midfielders Dhane Smith and Ian MacKay and faceoff specialist Max Adler – all starters. Last year, the NLL Finals kept our friends from Banditland out for the first three weeks of the regular season. The Chaos started the season with four straight losses and finished the regular season 2-8 before going on another miracle playoff run culminating in a championship game loss. This year, our friends from Banditland will only miss on week of the PLL season but the effects of another grueling NLL season could still be felt.
The most notable additions are the return of Johnny Surdick and drafting of Will Bowen, who will aid a defense that was inconsistent in 2022. Losing O’Keefe, Berg and Rogers is tough, but there is a list of fun offensive names that you’ll recognize from the college and pro game waiting in the wings. Some of these names will fill needs left from departures, while others will be cut once the Bandits return.
The 2022 ‘Aos showed us that despite a transition in play style, this group of guys is among the most talented in the league from attack line to former Goalie of the Year and MVP Blaze Riorden. I’m expecting another slower start with another strong finish in 2023.
