Week four didn’t disappoint with not one, not two, but THREE games that were decided by only one goal. Although they didn’t win their games, we finally saw some fight out of the Cannons and Redwoods. As we settle into the season, there is only one constant, Trevor Baptiste will be a top PLL Player Royale performer more often than not.
Top Players of PLL Week 4
Trevor Baptiste has reappeared at the top of the leaderboard with 35.2 fantasy lacrosse points. We all need a week off every now and then, right? The rookie Brendan Nichtern makes his second consecutive appearance at the number two spot with 30 fantasy points. Connor Kelly rounds out the top three with 26 fantasy points on the back of TWO two-point goals, along with two one-point goals. Two members of the Cannons cap off the top five: first, rookie Asher Nolting scored 24 fantasy points by way of four goals and two assists. Finally, Nick Marrocco barely makes it back into the top five with 23 fantasy points.
Notable Standouts from PLL Week 4
Garrett Epple was, once again, the top defenseman of the week with 22 fantasy points from four caused turnovers and two ground balls. I’d expect that this is a good sign that he’s back to his full production potential after averaging 12.8 fantasy points per game through four weeks. Craig Chick and Ryland Rees also scored 22 fantasy points this week, making them the top LSMs of the week. Lyle Thompson was the final member of the 22 fantasy point club this week, making him the second best attackman this week.
Defensive Performances from PLL Week 4
The Waterdogs have finally bucked the trend and are no longer the worst defense in the league (in respect to Player Royale fantasy lacrosse points allowed) after allowing the second lowest point total this season (36.2 fantasy points). However, they are still second to last, allowing 98.8 fantasy points per game. The Cannons finally slid into the bottom spot after their third, consecutive, week allowing 100+ fantasy points as a defense. They’re allowing an average of 108 fantasy points per week to opposing offenses. The Chrome are still atop the standings, allowing only 62.9 fantasy points per week.
Week four was full of comebacks and nail biters. It is always refreshing to see new faces in the top ten, especially when the rookies are able to get involved. Hopefully, we can see a new group of players atop the ladder after the conclusion of week five. It’s the final week before the PLL All-Star break! Who will be in the chase for the first round bye? Who will be trying to avoid being the lone team left out of championship contention? Is Trevor Baptiste on pace to be the league MVP?
