11. Callum Crawford’s 14-point performance helps him reach 1,000 career points
Callum Crawford entered the New England Black Wolves matchup with the New York Riptide 14 points away from 1,000 career points. It was a milestone everyone knew he would reach at some point this season, but no one expected him to do it in the team’s final game before the new year.
After a slow start, the Black Wolves caught fire and Callum Crawford had a hand in every single one of their first 14 goals. He would finish the day with five goals and nine assists, reaching that illustrious 1,000 career mark in New England’s 21-11 victory.
10. Jules Heningburg dominates after being traded to the Redwoods
The first-ever trade in the PLL was a big one. The Whipsnakes traded Jules Heningburg to the Redwoods in return for Alec Tulett and a fourth-round pick in the 2020 College Draft. However, no one could have predicted just how big an impact Heningburg would make in his first game. The week following the trade, Heningburg recorded five goals and 3 assists in the Redwoods 13-11 win over Chrome.
His revenge tour didn’t stop there though. The following week, the Redwoods knocked off the previously undefeated Whipsnakes, 14-11 and Heningburg (two goals, two assists) got to show the Whips exactly what they traded away. Heningburg would continue his dominance with a game-winning goal against the Archers in overtime and seven-point performance against the Atlas. The former Scarlet Knight finished the regular season in the Top 5 in scoring with 21 goals and 12 assists and contributed to the Redwoods’ playoff run that fell just short.
9. Max Adler shatters MLL faceoff percentage record
In 2018, Max Adler emerged as one of the most dominating faceoff specialists in the game and continued his dominance in 2019 as the team’s starting faceoff man.
Adler’s best performance came against the Bayhawks on August 10 when Adler went 23 for 24 at the faceoff X for a percentage of 95.8%. That percentage would shatter Denver’s previous single-game faceoff record of 89.3% held by Tommy Kelly and rank as the highest single-game percentage in MLL history.
8. Matt Vinc earns NLL Goaltender of the Year honors for the seventh time in 10 years
Matt Vinc joined the NLL in 2006 and since then has proven he’s one of the best goalies in league history. Since 2010, Matt Vinc has won seven Goaltender of the Year awards, earning his most recent during the Bandits 2019 season that came up just short of another championship for the veteran.
